ImagiNation-4-Life was created to afford people of all ages an opportunity to learn and practice creative problem solving techniques that will be applicable to their education, employment, and everyday life. The resources, kits, events and services provided by ImagiNation-4-Life create environments that promote the:
- Development of creativity
- Freedom to think in fresh innovative ways
- Enthusiasm for group involvement
- Opportunity to make choices in a relaxing and supportive setting
- Increased social skills in cooperation and communication
- Enjoyment of the problem-solving process
- Appreciation of achieving one’s personal best
History
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. Enrichment Programs began on the campus of College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania with a summer camp in 1984. The camp was a place for young people to be creative and, most importantly, “be themselves.” The program blended a week-long course in creativity and problem solving with fascinating, thought-provoking games, activities, swimming, drama and fun in the sun.
From 1984 through the late 1990’s, we offered SEP (Summer Enrichment Programs) curriculum and management support to camps across the United States. These exciting and intensive summer camps utilized team-based and individual problem solving activities along with recreational activity.
In 2004, the SEP curriculum and management guides were revised and reorganized as a part of the Destination ImagiNation, Inc. Enrichment Programs resources, and between 2004 and 2006 hundreds of schools and organizations were provided that curriculum.
In addition, Destination ImagiNation, Inc. Enrichment Programs also coordinated the development and delivery of curriculum for The Challenge: Tomorrow Summer Program in China, and, for eight Accept the Challenge camps on Pacific Air Force bases.
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. has grown and expanded its Community of Programs for all ages, including an adult version of the popular Destination ImagiNation® program called DI Later. The DI Later program was adapted into the I-4-L program in 2005-06, with a focus on allowing family members and friends to be on a common team. In late 2006, DI Later, I-4-L and Enrichment Programs have been merged under a single brand – ImagiNation-4-Life.
